Naff off, “clean girl aesthetic” or whatever tired TikTok trend wants you to look basic, beige, and boring. It’s time for Eccentric Weird Rich Auntie aesthetic, especially if she loves giant reptiles.
This maximalist joy took a few months of beading on and off after I was inspired by Wish of Beads’ “Pesce Azzurro” fish earrings utilizing several rows of fine Japanese delica beads on an oval bead frame. I took the concept up a notch with several articulated segments of delica bead and Fireline filled bead frames plus limbs made from Czech glass beads and a beaded fringe stripey tail just like Miss Liora’s. Czech seed beads with solgel for color durability line the edges of the lizard, and the lined red Czech seed beads for the lizard’s tongue reminded me of the moist and tickley dino kisses I get from Liora!
This wouldn’t be Varanid Paradise without varanids, now would it?
While the lizard is very long, it’s actually quite lightweight. Strung on whimsical yet elegant fine paperclip chain.
All stainless steel components, except the small bits of tarnish-proof copper wire used to make the limbs.
The lizard is 10” long. The necklace itself is 20” around, with a 3” extension attached.
